The Malaysian Rice-Plates Project

The Malaysian Rice-Plates aims to celebrate the melting-pot in Malaysia by selected Malaysian artists.

With rice being the stable food in Asia, the rice-plate is an important symbol of unity as all Malaysian eat their rice mostly from plates.

It's also a sign of survival as the rice plate symbolizes the way one makes a living.
It also acts as an introduction for foreign visitors to the rich world of art in Malaysia and will be an unique experience for people to view this project as a whole or individual piece reflects the artists' distinct individual approach to the theme

It has been put together by Wei-Ling Gallery and is presented by the Ministry of Tourism in conjunction with the 1st Malaysian Contemporary Art Tourism 2011.

Here is the glimpse of it captured on video and shots. Hope you enjoy them one by one.
My favourites are 9, 27, 29 and 33.

Video-Extraordinary Pantene Commercial

Thai Pantene television commercial. Its simply brilliant. The story of a deaf and mute girl who learns to play the violin against all odds. One of the most touching advertisements Ive seen in a long, long time.

GaolisVideoLog There should be more things like this in the media. You know, stuff that encourages you to reach your goal and tells you that it is ok to be different.

Thanks for many that concern of my temporary stop blogging. I really feel that is a reasonable time for me to learn new skills, improve & sharping my existing skills and to transform to a better person.

For a normal internet user, spending 5 hours each week on blogging and surfing is consider very minimal. What about if you spent approximately 2 hours each day on blogging, updating status in the facebook... It will be about 14hours that equal to almost a total of 2 full work days. For this, it's not very productive unless, you have the time and you are a fulltime blogger.

Let's say, you post only once a week. You need to edit photos and prepare blog entry, follow up with friends and surf the net. How long it will be. If the internet is slow, it will take longer time to do so...

Reading is the door way to open up wisdom and formulate ideas.Tomorrow is World Book day. Have you spent at least 20 minutes to read a book each day? Reading not the internet don't counts...

So, now total up your time @ the activities you do daily as below and find out the answers on how to manage our time on these issues.

Daily time spent on TV ( )

Daily time spent on Internet( )

Daily time spent on reading( )

Mine are......

Daily time spent on TV(none)

Daily time spent on internet if I am on line that day (3 to 4 hours)

Daily time spent on reading (1hour sometimes I read , sometimes I don't)

According to Shin Chew Daily, most people spend 10 times more on internet than reading. It's the top entertainment for today and it has took over watching TV as entertaining and other purposes.

It's true that internet provides a lot of informations but reading a book helps us to be focused.

Thus, we actually should commit at least 20 minutes on reading gradually.

These are just my opinions, care to let me know what's yours?

3rd Art Expo Malaysia 2009

Being a natural art lover, I enjoy visiting art galleries and exhibitions.
Yes, I went for a few exhibitions, a few was not covered here. So, I just post it up now.....
Not bad, I went with Kak Emila to watch the greatest art exhibition in town last November. Previously, I went alone to the same exhibition in 2008.
These are some unique pieces in my eyes, enjoy!

I love taking picture and this was 1 Malaysia mosaic paintings that I was styling with!
Can you tell me, how many mini pieces were up to make up a huge display like this?
Abstract piece that I super love!Who say mute abstract piece can't make a statement! Cute whimsical art by Korean artist.
I was there and spoke to her & her husband
for 15 minutes about being an artist & the process
of their works:)A surreal zen piece, simple but touching! A fresh out!
Love the character, colour and contrast of this piece.
Calling for independence!Cheerful bites...
A jolly happy joker in rainbow suit!
Another great piece. Love the emo & expression here:)
This is a portrait painting that I really adore. I showed my students this shot and that
the little ones all said
" We can't look at this..
and you ham sup
Ha..Ha.. "

Practice makes perfect

Practice makes perfect means that the more you practice, the better you will become.
If you want to become great, then you should practice as much as possible.
"See how fast you are getting better at the piano? Practice makes perfect." is one of my encouragements to my students.

I am on practising mode again besides playing the piano. Another hour to Monday. Happy Monday! Lots of smiles from the girls & boys here:)

I found this video, quite cool but a little bit loud and rappy for me..... but it's quite unique...Ha..Ha..

Merdeka Celebration Challenge by S. Amin Shahab
Artist Statement

The Mighty pen
They say the pen is mightier than a sword. Indeed it is a powerful tool.
With a single written instruction, it can command a legion of army to strike war. With it, it can also seal peace between two nations. It can also stir emotions or bring tranquility in artistic ways.
To S. Amin Shahab, he chose the latter. In his quest to complete "One Kilometer World", the artist has used hundreds of pens to bring across not just the message of art but peace and harmony.

Video: How to open a coconut?

As promised before, I would like to share the skill of open a coconut.
Sorry, my student accidently deleted the video that she recorded for me.
So, three weeks back, I brought her another coconut, asking her Indonesian maid's permission to redo the whole process again!
She was really fast, watch the video and you will agree with me:)
However, she is a friendly, humble and kind person. She is multi-talented. She knows how to speak Mandarin and her cooking skill is surprisingly good. Can be compared to the chef in 5 star restaurant!

And about my skill opening a coconut...
I just dig a small hole to allow the coconut drink flows out smoothly only.
Kind of cheating!
Enjoy the video!
